faith of our what?

Dear friends,

As of late, I have been a bit troubled and, on occasion (and despite my knowing-better), personally huirt by some of the not-so-nice rhetoric being tossed around by a variety of my friends and family via the internet.

I am not much of a blogger, and prefer not to place that label upon myself.

However, I would like to commit to something right here and now.

In the coming months, I'd like to offer up some of my humble and flawed convictions and opinions on certain talked-about topics among people of faith (though they are often not talked about with each other--that is among folks who actually disagree with one another).

I have no desire whatsoever to be controversial or conservative or liberal or progressive or radical or radically anything else.

I also have no desire (once again) to construct any sort of categories into which people might slip.

I do feel, however, that there is a misconception out there that:

"to be a person of faith," or

"to believe biblically" or

"to be Christian"

means...well a number of things.

Of course the misconception is that there is only one option of opinion withing the spectrum of religious (and biblical) conviction, and that everyone who disagrees is somehow wrong or "evil" or "a liar" or something else distasteful or easily (once again) placed in a category, and therefore labeled and discarded and deemed not-necessary-to-listen-to.

My hope will be not to make you think like me. Or believe like me. Or be like me in anyway whatsoever.

There are so many better persons to aspire toward.

My hope will be to offer an opinion that may sound or look different--or may smell ridiculously cliche, depending on one's perspective.

In an ideal world, this will start healthy dialog, and not child-like name calling and hateful bickering.

If it becomes that, I will be tempted to hit 'delete.'

So, we'll see what happens.

I'll probably be posting it here:

and maybe on FB.

Okay, Peace, kids.

Type at you post-Easter.
