A Prayer of the Day for Christmas Eve

Image: A Picture from a Collection of Nativity Scenes (That I snapped in Portugal)

Peace, all.

I'm tossing out Sundays and Seasons' Christmas Eve prayer of the day (like so many others) and tweaking a bunch of the rest of the liturgy.

Attempting like most of y'all to undo centuries of the church saying, "light good," "dark bad."

And that stuff's all over Christmastime in our official literature and far beyond. Ugh.
Anyway, feel free to use this. It's imperfect, as all things are.

PRAYER OF THE DAY
Embodied God, on this holy night, you revealed your presence to all the earth. The dirt and the trees, the sheep and the shepherds, the angels—and even we—sing out with joy at the arrival of your love in our flesh. Open our hearts to receive again this story as Good News, goodwill, and peace—for those of us who are poor, for those of us who are powerful, for the planet (from which we are formed), and for those of us who have not yet arrived, but are on our way. Amen.
