Prayer of the Day for November 13, 2022, 23rd Sunday After Pentecost

Peace, all. Here's a Prayer of the Day to go with the apocalyptic texts in Malachi 4 and Luke 21 sneaking into our lectionary readings already--even before Advent.

Use it as you will.

A Prayer of the Day

God, we know that all that is born will pass away. Buildings will crumble. Friendships will fade. Epochs in history will be reduced to a paragraph in a textbook that only half the class will read. And yet, the faithful who have gone before us testify: when all else ceases, and when we are at an end, faith, hope, and love will remain. Draw us to these gifts. Make them our lifelines. Make them, in us, marks of a life lived in you. And remind us that, though these gifts are eternal and enduring, they are nonetheless quite livable in this place, in this time, and right now. Amen.
